Birmingham Firm Acquires 3 Corporate Hangars At Bessemer Airport

A Birmingham-based real estate acquisition and development firm has made a major purchase at the Bessemer Municipal Airport.

BESSEMER, AL - Birmingham-based Sanders Capital Partners has recently acquired three corporate hangars totaling 49,160 square feet located at Bessemer Municipal Airport. The real estate acquisition and development firm announced the $1.3 million acquisition Monday.

The three hangars are currently at full capacity and currently underway to make significant capital improvements that airport officials hope will increase its attractiveness to active corporate and personal aviators. Most notably, SCP has secured long-term “in-to-wing” fuel pricing, available only to their tenants, that rivals having ones own fuel farm. No other landlord, let alone airport, is offering this amenity, according to a statement by SCP.

“Sanders Capital Partners is optimistic about becoming an active stakeholder at the airport. Amazon and other recent announcements are encouraging news for us and for Bessemer, but many may not know that Bessemer is playing an increasingly significant role in the aviation mix in the greater Birmingham/ Tuscaloosa markets and we are seeing this role expand aggressively for a variety of reasons,” stated Jackson Stewart, General Counsel for Sanders Capital Partners. “We are committed to the growth of the airport, not only with this investment, but we are also actively evaluating new-build opportunities."

“Exciting things are happening at BAA right now and we believe having Sanders Capital Partners make a significant investment in the airport validates our continuing growth," said Bessemer Airport Authority Executive Director Tim Wasyluka. "We believe SCP’s activities will be a catalyst for future activity around the airport.” (For more updates on this story and free news alerts for your neighborhood, sign up for your local Patch morning newsletter.)
