  1. A Birmingham 6th grader is a finalist for the Time magazine and Nickelodeon 2022 Kid Of The Year award. Ethan Hill, a student at Birmingham's Phillips Academy, has been delivering care packages to Birmingham's homeless community since he was 7 years old. He also started his own nonprofit, Ethan's Heart. (Birmingham Patch)
  2. The World Games 2022 Birmingham has partnered with four Birmingham businesses to host a poster design contest for Alabama high school students. There are three themes and nine opportunities to win. First-place winners will have their art turned into memorabilia for purchase during The Games. (Birmingham City Schools)
  3. The 2022 Word Up! Poetry Slam will be held virtually, via Zoom on Friday, Jan. 28. It will also be streamed on the Birmingham Public Library Facebook page. Semifinal rounds begin at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., followed by the final round at 6:30 p.m. (Press Release Desk)
