Birmingham Hopes To Lure Historic Football Game From Columbus
Birmingham is negotiating to host a longtime HBCU football match-up that has been held in Columbus since 1936.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — A football rivalry game that has been played in Columbus, Georgia, since 1936 might have a new home in Birmingham. Talks are underway to have the Morehouse Tuskegee Football Classic moved from Columbus to Birmingham, according to a Birmingham Business Journal report.
“We work hard to recruit major sporting and entertainment events because of the positive economic impact it has on the city and the benefit it provides to our residents," mayor Randall Woodfin said in the BBJ report. "We look forward to further talks with Morehouse College and Tuskegee University."
