Birmingham Hostage Situation Ends With No Injuries, Two Arrests
A woman was allegedly held hostage by her ex-boyfriend and another suspect. She eventually escaped and the suspects surrendered.

BIRMINGHAM, AL —An overnight hostage situation in the Kingston community in Birmingham ended with no injuries when the hostage escaped and two suspects surrendered, according to AL.com.
According to reports, the incident took place between 11 p.m. Wednesday and 1:20 a.m. Thursday in the 900 block of 45th Street North.
Birmingham's South Precinct officers responded to reports of a domestic disturbance. When they arrived, they learned a female had been forcibly dragged back into her apartment by a male suspect, whom police said was her ex-boyfriend. The victim had a protection of abuse order against the man, according to police.

Officer Truman Fitzgerald told AL.com that the police department also discovered the suspect had a felony weapons offense and was known to be heavily armed.
According to the police, the female victim remained in contact with a 911 dispatcher as officers attempted to coax the suspect or suspects out of the house.

Just before 1 a.m., police said the Birmingham Police Department's SWAT team arrived on the scene. Shortly after that, the female victim escaped through a window.
Approximately 20 minutes later, two male suspects surrendered, police said.
A police spokesman told AL.com that one of the suspects was the victims' ex-boyfriend, while they were still trying to determine the involvement of the second suspect.
According to the Birmingham Police Department, an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
