Birmingham Man Accused Of Trafficking Methamphetamine

A 40-year-old Birmingham man was arrested and charged with methamphetamine trafficking July 5.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office arrested Chico Allen of Birmingham and charged him with trafficking methamphetamine July 5.

Sheriff's deputies learned that Allen had an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court on a charge of Receiving Stolen Property, and investigators developed information that indicated Allen was staying at a hotel on Crestwood Boulevard in eastern Jefferson County. They went to the hotel to arrest him for the warrant.
When investigators got to the hotel they were met by two women who told them that he was not in the room.

A second location was checked and investigators stopped Allen as he drove away from that address and arrested him for the warrant. Allen was found in possession of a stolen handgun, suboxone, and nearly two ounces of methamphetamine. He was charged with the outstanding warrant as well as Trafficking Methamphetamine, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, Receiving Stolen Property 2nd Degree, Carrying a Pistol without a License, and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was taken to the Jefferson County Jail where he remains with no bond.

Back at the hotel, investigators continued their investigation and learned that the two women were kept in the hotel room to serve as prostitutes. Information was developed that indicated the women were possible victims of human trafficking.

Investigators contacted the FBI for assistance with the Human Trafficking Investigation and, on July 6, they returned to the hotel to follow up. They learned that other women were being kept in the room for the same purpose and a third possible victim of human trafficking was identified.
