Birmingham Man Arrested In Connection To October Murder

BIRMINGHAM, AL —A Birmingham man has been arrested in connection to the October 2021 death of Malik Tyrese Sutton, which was ruled a homicide, the Birmingham Police Department reported Monday.
Eren Johnson, 23, was arrested after detectives obtained a warrant for Capital Murder for his arrest, the police department said. Johnson is in custody at the Jefferson County Jail with no bond, according to authorities.
According to police records, at approximately 10:20 p.m. on Oct 29, 2021, West Precinct officers were dispatched to the 4200 block of Avenue L in Birmingham after receiving a ShotSpotter alert about multiple gunshots being fired.

Near that location, officers observed a male lying unresponsive in a driveway and suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, police said. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel pronounced the victim dead at the scene. The victim later was identified as Sutton, a 25-year-old man from Birmingham.
