Birmingham Man Arrested For Drug Trafficking

A Birmingham man has been arrested for trafficking illegal drugs following a traffic stop in eastern Jefferson County.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - A 30-year-old Birmingham man has been arrested by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department for trafficking illegal drugs following a traffic stop in eastern Jefferson County.

Just after 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 16, deputies conducted a traffic stop for a tag violation in the 2100 block of 3rd Street NE. The driver, Keylands Dewayne Turner, was seen attempting to throw a brown paper bag from the car as deputies approached. The bag was recovered and found to contain marijuana, alprozalam, hydrocodone, oxycodone, and a scale. The driver was arrested. A subsequent search of the car revealed more prescription narcotics. Turner was arrested and taken to the Jefferson County Jail. Narcotics detectives obtained arrest warrants formally charging Turner with two counts of Trafficking in Illegal Drugs. He remains in the Jefferson County Jail with bond set at $200,000.
