Birmingham Man Arrested For Trafficking Heroin

A Birmingham man has been arrested for trafficking heroin, and a woman with him has been charged with drug possession.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - Two people have been arrested on drug charges in the Huffman area. A 26-year-old Birmingham man, Dedrick Forsythe, was arrested yesterday afternoon for trafficking heroin, and his girlfriend, 31-year-old Nephateri Davis, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.

Just after 3 p.m. yesterday afternoon members of the Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit conducted a surveillance operation at an apartment in the Huffman area of Jefferson County as part of an ongoing investigation into heroin distribution. During the surveillance, they observed Forsythe and Davis near the apartment. Forsythe was recognized as having an outstanding felony warrant for unlawful distribution of a controlled substance. Uniformed patrol personnel arrested Forsythe for the outstanding warrant. Davis was found to have three grams of cocaine in her purse and was also arrested.

The pair was questioned by narcotics investigators and granted consent to search their apartment for drugs. During the search deputies discovered forty-four grams of heroin, marijuana, digital scales, prescription cough medicine, four handguns, and cash. The estimated street value of the drugs is approximately $9,000.

Forsythe was charged with trafficking heroin as well as the outstanding warrant for unlawful distribution of a controlled substance. He was taken to the Jefferson County Jail where he is held with no bond. Davis was taken to the Jefferson County Jail where she posted $1,000 bond and was released pending court proceedings.
