The victim will be identified upon notification to the next of kin.
At approximately 2:00 a.m., North Precinct officers were on routine patrol when they heard multiple gunshots fired. Officers then patrolled the 2500 block of 13th Avenue North where they observed a male victim lying unresponsive on the side of the roadway suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.
