The Birmingham Police Department reports the Jefferson County Coroner has identified the victim in a recent homicide. The incident occurred on Saturday night March 13, 2021 just before 10:00 p.m.

Homicide Investigation
The Birmingham Police Department reports detectives are conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Saturday night March 13, 2021 just before 10:00 p.m.
The victim will be identified upon notification of next of kin.Â
The Birmingham a Police Department’s Communication Division received a shot spotter call of a single shot fired in the 500 block of Saint Charles Avenue Southwest. Officers from the West Precinct responded to 520 Saint Charles Avenue to investigate the call. Officers arrived and discovered an adult male on the porch sitting upright in a chair unresponsive. After further investigation it was determined the male suffered from a gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced a deceased by Birmingham Fire and Rescue.
The preliminary investigation indicates the victim was involved in an altercation with the suspect prior to him being shot.
The Birmingham Police Department has a person of interest in custody for further questioning. However, this is an ongoing investigation therefore we ask him if anyone has additional information please dial Crime Stoppers at 254-7777 updates will be provided at this case develops.
