On Sunday, June 13, 2021, Lykeria Taylor was shot while traveling in a vehicle near the intersection of Warrior Road @ Avenue V; she passed away at UAB hospital the following day.

The preliminary investigation suggests Lykeria Taylor and her boyfriend had just left a nearby nightclub when an unknown vehicle pulled up alongside them and an occupant fired shots into their vehicle. The vehicle then fled the scene. The suspect(s) responsible is still not in custody.
