Birmingham Police Identify Homicide Victim

The victim from the fatal March 12 shooting has been identified as Jerrell Little, 29, of Birmingham, according to officers with BPD.

BIRMINGHAM, AL—The Birmingham Police Department has identified the victim of last week's fatal shooting. He is Jerrell Little, 29, of Birmingham. According to police, he died March 12 after a shooting on 1st Avenue South.

Last Thursday, police say they responded to 7720 1st Ave. South around 1 p.m. in reference to shots fired. When they arrived on scene, they say they found Little lying on the ground and suffering from a gunshot wound.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and transported Little to UAB Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

According to police, Little and the suspect were involved in a verbal altercation prior to him being shot. Police say Little did attempt to flee on foot before he collapsed to the ground.

BPD officers say they do have one person in custody, and the investigation continues.
