Birmingham Police Investigating Two Shootings

Two separate shootings in Southwest Birmingham Monday morning are being investigated by the Birmingham PD.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - Two shootings early Monday morning in Birmingham are being investigated by the Birmingham Police Department.

According to a report by Alabama Media Group, three people were shot in two separate shootings in southwest Birmingham. Just after midnight Monday morning, police responded to a shooting in the 2400 block of Pearson Avenue where a black male was shot in the leg and taken to the hospital.

Approximately an hour later, another shooting happened at the nearby Valero gas station and the victims then made it a couple of blocks away before stopping. Both were transported to UAB Hospital by Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service.

An officer found a black male lying on the street next to a vehicle. He had been shot multiple times including gunshot wounds to the chest and side. A black female had been shot in the arm.

Police said they have reason to believe the two incidents may be related.
