Birmingham Police Officer Arrested In Exploitation Case
A Birmingham police officer has been charged with financial exploitation of an elderly person.
BIRMINGHAM, AL — A Birmingham police officer has been arrested and charged with financial exploitation of the elderly, stemming from a case involving a relative of his, police said. The officer, Gregory Irvin, was taken into custody Wednesday.
Sgt. Rod Mauldin of the Birmingham Police Department said the Department of Human Resources alerted the Birmingham Police Department of a case filed with their agency October 16 involving Irvin and a relative. Irvin was relieved of his duties with the department during the investigation.
Irvin has been with the Birmingham Police Department since 2017. He is being held in the Jefferson County Jail on $30,000 bond.
