Birmingham Police Officer Arrested In Homicide Case
A Birmingham police detective is in custody after a homicide Friday night.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — A 15-year veteran of the Birmingham Police Department is in custody and has been charged with capital murder. The incident occurred just before midnight Friday night.
Sgt. Rod Mauldin of the Birmingham Police Department said officers from the West Precinct responded to a spot spotter call of several rounds fired in the 3000 Block of Pearson Ave. Friday night.
Mauldin said officers arrived in the Germania Park area and discovered Kanisha Necole Fuller, 43, inside of a vehicle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Birmingham Fire and Rescue responded and transported Fuller to UAB Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Investigators were later notified that she succumb to her injuries and was pronounced dead by hospital staff.

The preliminary investigation has revealed the vehicle the victim was inside at the time she was wounded was an unmarked Birmingham Police Department Vehicle. The victim was in the car with a Birmingham Police Detective at the time she was wounded, Mauldin said. It has also been established that the suspect in the shooting is Birmingham police detective Alfreda Fluker.
Mauldin said the motive in this homicide "is domestic in nature."

Fluker is in the custody of the Jefferson County Jail and is held without bond.
