Man Killed In Shootout With Police In Titusville
A man was shot and killed by Birmingham police in the Titusville neighborhood of Birmingham Wednesday.
BIRMINGHAM, AL — A man was shot and killed by a Birmingham police officer in Titusville Wednesday, police said.
Police say the shooting occurred around 2 p.m. when police responded to a report of shots fired in the 100 block of 5th Avenue SW.
Sgt. Rod Mauldin of the Birmingham Police Department Mauldin said the shooter "took a tactical position on the porch"of a nearby home and fired at officers. When returning fire, police struck the shooter, who was then taken to UAB Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
