Birmingham Police Officer Struck By Vehicle

A Birmingham police officer was hit by a vehicle outside an apartment complex Monday, and the driver of the vehicle is still at large.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — A Birmingham police officer was struck by a vehicle Monday morning outside the the Lakeshore Ridge apartment complex. A WBRC report said the officer is expected to recover from his injuries.

The incident occurred just after 5 a.m. Monday when the officer responded to a report of a vehicle break-in at the complex, according to the report. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene after hitting the officer, and police said they lost the driver of the silver SUV on I-59 southbound at Arkadelphia Road.
