Birmingham Police Officer Wounded In Ambush
A Birmingham police officer is recovering from a bullet wound after suspects opened fire on his car.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — Two suspects are in police custody and a Birmingham police veteran is recovering from a gunshot wound after his car was hit with a hail of bullets.
The shooting happened at about 11:30 p.m. Thursday on Princeton Avenue while the 7-year police veteran was conducting surveillance on a violent crime suspect, according to AL.com. The officer was shot in the arm, treated at a nearby hospital and released.
"It's unknown how many individuals were shooting or how many times they shot,'' Sgt. Bryan Shelton told AL.com.

Responding police chased a white SUV, but the suspects ditched the vehicle, forcing officers to use tracking dogs to search the West End neighborhood. Two persons of interest were taken into custody and high-capacity weapons were recovered, AL.com reported.
