BIRMINGHAM, AL—All Birmingham Public Library locations are currently closed to the public until further notice. According to library officials, the decision was made in a effort to minimize the spread of the coronavirus.
Although patrons aren't able to check out items, the BPL website remains open 24/7, library officials stressed. For people who possess a library card, it still can be used to unlock resources, educational databases, digital collections, and downloadable, streaming entertainment through Kanopy, OverDrive, Flipster, Hoopla and Freegal.
Library managers say they have begun contacting patrons regarding meeting rooms, and all meeting room bookings can be rescheduled or a refund will be issued to the patron or organization.
