Birmingham and the state of Alabama as a whole have been recognized as desirable places to live due mostly - or entirely - to the low cost of living throughout the state. A recent study by the Tax Foundation mapped out what $100 is worth in each state. And Alabama was one of the states where $100 is worth the most.
