Birmingham Transit Director Suspended

The Birmingham-Jefferson County Transit Authority has suspended its executive director over possible misuse of BJCTA credit card.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - The Birmingham-Jefferson County Transit Authority has suspended its executive director Barbara Murdock over suspicion that she misused a BJCTA credit card. The report says Murdock paid her personal power bill with BJCTA funds.

According to a report by the Birmingham Business Journal, during a special-called meeting last Tuesday, the board of directors voted to suspend Murdock, effective immediately, “pending a full investigation into finance matters.”

The investigation has been referred to the office of state attorney general Steve Marshall. Murdock was appointed to her position in 2016 after an extensive search to replace Ann August, who resigned her position in 2015 amidst conflicts with the current board of the BJCTA.
