Birmingham VA Hospital Names New Director
A 12-year army veteran was recently named director of the Birmingham VA Hospital.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — The Birmingham VA Hospital has a new director. Stacy Vasquez, who was previously the director of the Beckley VA Medical Center in Beckley, WV, is a 12-year U.S. Army veteran.
Vasquez will oversee the delivery of health care to more than 67,000 Veterans and an operating budget of more than $500 million.
Her experience spans more than 25 years between the VA and the Department of Defense. As the former director of the Beckley VA Medical Center, Vasquez was responsible for directing all day-to-day operations of the multi-campus complexity level 2 multi-million-dollar VA health care facility.

She holds a Masters Degree in Legislative Affairs from George Washington University and a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Houston. She completed her senior post grad fellowship at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy with course work at Harvard.
“The partnership with UAB School of Medicine is vital to the BVAMC in serving our nation’s heroes by providing quality care and innovative research,” said Vasquez. “The VA is grateful for the faculty and over 1,100 learners that are part of the Veteran care team advancing medicine to save lives.”
