Budget Inn Robbery: Police Search For Suspect
Birmingham police are looking for a suspect seen on security video robbing the Budget Inn on Messer Airport Highway.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — Birmingham police are looking for a suspect seen on security video robbing the Budget Inn hotel on Messer Airport Highway Feb. 7.
Sgt. Johnny Williams of the Birmingham Police Department said the suspect entered the hotel lobby around 7:45 Thursday and asked for room rates. The suspect began to fumble through his pockets just before he pulled a handgun and jumped over the counter, Williams said.
After jumping the counter, he reportedly pointed the handgun at the clerk and demanded money from the register. Williams said the suspect managed to get money from the register but continued to demand more money while threatening to kill the clerk.

The suspect also attempted to get money from the safe, but was unsuccessful. The suspect left the location on foot headed westbound, Williams said. There were no injuries during the robbery.
