Bus Service Restored To Fairfield

After more than a year without bus service, Fairfield will again be a part of the Max bus route.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - The Birmingham-Jefferson County Transit Authority announced this week that Fairfield will once again be included in Max bus routes. Fairfield has been without bus service for more than a year, and this comes as a relief to a large number of Fairfield residents, as they have mostly been forced to walk to Midfield to catch a bus during the last year.

Bus service in Fairfield was shut down in July of 2016 because of a past due balance. The city has paid $450,118.50 toward its balance since then and owes $123,962.44. According to a report by the Birmingham Business Journal, the BJCTA board of directors unanimously voted to restore transit once the city’s balance is paid in full.
