Chase With State Trooper Ends As Suspect Shot And Killed

A chase involving a man and a state trooper that started in Gardendale and ended in Morris resulted in a suspect's death.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - A man who fled from a state trooper from Gardendale to Morris was eventually shot and killed after the chase. The incident began just after midnight Wednesday on Moncrief Road in Gardendale.

A report by Alabama Media Group said the trooper tried to pull over a motorist for aggravated speeding and reckless driving. The driver refused to stop and a pursuit ensued. The chase went from Gardendale to a dead -end road - Third Avenue North - in Morris. When the trooper tried to take the man into custody, at least one shot was fired and the motorist was struck.
