City Councilman Asks For Increased Police Presence After Shooting

A shooting on Montclair Road has new council member Hunter Williams asking for increased police presence in the Crestline neighborhood.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - A shooting that occurred at an apartment complex on Montclair Road Tuesday night left one person hospitalized and one of Birmingham's newest city council members asking for more police presence in his district.

Hunter Williams, who was recently elected to the Birmingham City Council for District 2, said via social media he is asking for increased police and undercover task force presence. The incident has left many residents of the Crestline and Eastwood neighborhoods feeling uneasy and demanding a stop to the crime that has occurred in this particular apartment complex recently.

The apartments, located at 1509 Montclair Road, have been the source of discussion in many neighborhood association meetings in Crestline, as police have relayed that they believe residents of the apartments are behind a recent increase in car break-ins around the Crestline neighborhood.
