City To Hold Orientation Session For Board Hopefuls

Anyone wishing to apply for positions to city boards and committees can attend an orientation session Oct. 12.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - Anyone who has wanted to serve on one of the city of Birmingham's boards or committees can do so, but attendance at an orientation session is needed. That session is being held October 12 at Birmingham City Hall at 1 p.m.

Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin said he believes "it is vital for board members to understand their role with the organization they’ve been selected to serve," which is why he has joined the Birmingham City Council in making it a priority of his to reexamine and improve the roles of the various boards and agencies.

"It is also vital for the City of Birmingham to ensure pertinent information is readily available for our citizens.
The Mayor wants to ensure that board members are equipped with the knowledge, training, and expertise to efficiently and effectively serve Birmingham residents," the mayor's office stated.
