Here are the top stories today in Birmingham:
- A local special education classroom is receiving a big boost this week. Terri Jones, a Thompson Intermediate School teacher, is the recipient of the One Class at a Time grant. Ms. Jones says that she will be using the $1,000 to make her classroom more accommodating to her students. (WIAT - CBS42.com)
- A former daycare building in Jones Valley went up in flames Wednesday evening. Birmingham Fire and Rescue received a call around 7:30 p.m. to find a "significant" blaze at the site. No injuries are reported at this time, but the fire remains under investigation. (WVTM13 Birmingham)
- A community organization is working to raise funds after their food pantry was stolen on Wednesday night. Margins: Women Helping Black Women's West End food pantry normally opens their doors to any resident in need.
