Closure On I-59/20 At I-65 Interchange Causes Traffic Delays

BIRMINGHAM, AL - An overnight construction issue forced the Alabama Department of Transportation to close Interstate 20/59 at the Interstate 65 South interchange Thursday morning. The issue is related to a beam used in the construction area at the junction in downtown Birmingham and is causing a roadblock.

ALDOT issued a statement saying vehicles traveling I-20/59 Southbound will have to get off on I-65 Northbound and travel to the 16th Street North Exit, then get back on I-65 Southbound to I-20/59. Drivers should expect delays at this detour.
