Coaches Poll: Alabama No. 2 In Preseason, Auburn 16th

The Crimson Tide will begin the 2019 football season ranked No. 2 in the Amway Coaches Poll. Auburn is ranked 16th.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — The Amway Coaches Poll released its preseason college football rankings Thursday, and there is not much surprise at the top. Alabama is ranked second behind Clemson - where the two ended the 2018 season.

Auburn is ranked 16th in the poll, receiving 606 points in the voting. Alabama received 1,566 points, behind Clemson's 1,619 points.

This is the first time since 2015 the Crimson Tide will not be ranked first heading into the season. However, in only one of Saban's national championships was Alabama ranked No. 1 in the preseason poll (2017).

Auburn can also seek some solace in their ranking as well, as the Tigers won their 2010 national championship starting the season ranked No. 22.

The Southeastern Conference placed four teams in the top 10 - Alabama (2), Georgia (3), LSU (6) and Florida (8). Texas A&M just missed the top 10, ranked 11th.

In all the SEC placed six teams in the top 25.

Alabama's former quarterback, Jalen Hurts, will lead his new team, Oklahoma into the season ranked 4th.
