Coronavirus: Alabama Reports 3,100 Cases; 89 Deaths

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases statewide grew by 92 Saturday, according to the Alabama Department of Public Health.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — The number of confirmed coronavirus cases statewide grew by 92 Saturday, bringing the total to 3,100. Of the total cases, 566 were in Jefferson County, an increase of 11 from Friday.

Statewide, the number of deaths grew from 80 to 89, according to the Alabama Department of Public Health. One additional death was reported in Jefferson County, bringing the county total to 15. A total of 4,422 tests have been administered there.

State health officials update figures related to illness count each day on a dashboard. In the portal, officials reported Saturday there have been 20,605 tests undertaken statewide with 402 total hospitalizations since March 13.

The counties with the most cases as of Saturday afternoon other than Jefferson:

  • Mobile County: 400 confirmed cases; 1,631 total tests; 13 reported deaths
  • Lee County: 215 confirmed cases; 628 total tests; 8 reported deaths
  • Shelby County: 189 confirmed cases; 1,095 total tests; 5 reported deaths
  • Madison County: 183 confirmed cases; 1,084 total tests; 3 reported deaths
  • Chambers County: 178 confirmed cases; 267 total tests; 8 reported deaths.
