Coronavirus Cases On The Rise In Jefferson County In November

Jefferson County has reported at least 200 new COVID-19 cases each day for the last three days, and has reported 19 deaths in November.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — After going the entire month of October without a single day of more than 200 new COVID-19 cases, Jefferson County has reported three straight days with at least 200 new cases.

As well, the county has reported 19 COVID-19 deaths already in November. The Jefferson County Department of Health has reported four days in November with more than 200 new cases of the virus.

  • Nov. 1: 187 new cases, 4 deaths
  • Nov. 2: 125 new cases, 0 deaths
  • Nov. 3: 157 new cases, 0 deaths
  • Nov. 4: 219 new cases, 2 deaths
  • Nov. 5: 186 new cases, 1 death
  • Nov. 6: 211 new cases, 0 deaths
  • Nov. 7: 257 new cases, 12 deaths
  • Nov. 8: 200 new cases, 0 deaths

In October, Jefferson County averaged 131 new COVID-19 cases per day, and increase over September, when the county averaged just under 110 new cases per day. The highest daily average in the county was in July, when the county averaged 225 new cases per day.

In the last two weeks, Alabama is averaging 1,435 new COVID-19 cases per day statewide. The state has surpassed 200,000 total cases of the virus and has reported 3,084 deaths.
