COVID-19 Hospitalizations In Alabama Reach New High
The number of patients hospitalized in Alabama for COVID-19 topped 775 in Wednesday's report.
MONTGOMERY, AL — The number of COVID-19 patients in Alabama hospitals increased Wednesday, bringing the state's total to an all-time high of 776. An additional 61 patients were hospitalized in the last 24 hours from the virus.
A total of 38,442 cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Alabama since testing began in March, with 10,696 cases confirmed in the last two weeks alone. The state reported 21 deaths from the virus in the last 24 hours, bringing the state's death total to 947.

The counties posting the most new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours:
- Jefferson County: 177 new cases
- Tuscaloosa County: 85 new cases
- Mobile County: 63 new cases
- Montgomery County: 51 new cases
- Marshall County: 42 new cases
Jefferson County continues to lead all counties in total cases with 4,387, and leads all counties in COVID-19 deaths with 147.
