Coronavirus: Birmingham's Railroad Park To Remain Open
While the park remains operational, staff will cordon off playground and fitness equipment to minimize the spread of the coronavirus.

BIRMINGHAM, AL—As of Tuesday, Railroad Park will remain open and operational. According to park officials, they are following the lead of other parks around the country that still remain open at this time.
“This is a stressful time for many, and we hope Railroad Park will be a respite, helping relieve stress and contributing to the well being of the communities around us,” said Camille Spratling, executive director, Railroad Park Foundation.
Anyone who has plans to visit the park are required to adhere to the current Jefferson County Department of Health order to maintain social distancing within gatherings of less than 25 people.

To minimize the risk of spreading COVID-19, the park's executive director says they are cordoning off some high touch areas, including the playgrounds and the fitness equipment along the 14th Street side of the park.
"We have also removed the tables and chairs along the 17th Street Pavilion," Spratling said.

All Railroad Park programs through the end of March have also been suspended. All park events will also be rescheduled.
