Death Of Prison Inmate From Birmingham Under Investigation

An inmate at the Bullock County Correctional Facility died earlier this month, and an investigation is underway.

BULLOCK COUNTY, AL — An investigation by the Alabama Department of Corrections is underway after a 34-year-old inmate died at the Bullock County Correctional Facility. Marcus Green of Birmingham died Oct. 6, as he was serving a 20-year sentence for rape.

A WHNT report said Green was found in bed on his back and unresponsive, and was taken to the prison's health care unit, where officials said he was pronounced dead at 11:40 p.m. after efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.

Green pleaded guilty to first degree rape in Jefferson County in 2007.

Law enforcement agents of the Alabama Department of Corrections Investigations and Intelligence Division are investigating the death.

Green is the sixth prison inmate to die in Alabama this year.
