Deputies Involved In Shooting While Attempting To Serve Warrant
Jefferson County Sheriff's Deputies attempted to arrest a Hispanic man on an outstanding warrant in Bessemer, which ended with shots fired.
BIRMINGHAM, AL - Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies attempting to issue a warrant in Bessemer became involved in a shooting Wednesday. Shots broke out after deputies confronted 32-year-old Edder Hernandez.
A report by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said at approximately 12:02 p.m., Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies attempted to arrest Hernandez on an outstanding warrant near 5th Avenue in Bessemer. Report said that during a confrontation, deputies shot at Hernandez. The suspect fled the scene and a BOLO was issued for the suspect and his vehicle.
Hernandez was later located at a local hospital being treated for his gun shot wounds. He is expected to survive.
