Dog Dragged From Truck Dies, Ex-Convict Arrested

A man who had once served time in prison for murder has been arrested and accused of animal cruelty.

TARRANT, AL — A man who was once in prison for murder has been arrested again, this time charged with aggravated animal cruelty. An Alabama Media Group report said Luther Grubbs, Jr. was seen dragging a dog by its collar with his truck. The dog died from its injuries.

Tarrant police arrived at 2500 block of Pinson Valley Parkway Thursday afternoon where witnesses said they observed Grubbs dragging the German Shepherd with his truck. Witnesses say Grubbs grabbed the dog and tossed it into the back of his truck after being confrinted by the witnesses.

Grubbs was booked into the Jefferson County Jail at 3:47 p.m. and is being held on $45,000 bond.
