Double Homicide In Ensley Under Investigation

Two gunshot victims were found dead inside a home in Ensley Tuesday night.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — Birmingham police are investigating a double homicide in Ensley Tuesday night. The incident occurred in the 400 block of 29th Street.

Sgt. Road Mauldin of the Birmingham Police Department said a landlord arrived at his rental property and found two gunshot victims inside the home. Police pronounced both victims dead at the scene just after 11:30 p.m.

The victims have been identified as Joseph Scott Norris, 40, and Jacqueline Sims Newsome, 39, both of Birmingham. The victims are the 81st and 82nd homicides in Birmingham in 2020.
