BIRMINGHAM, AL - Continuing his series of health care-focused events in Alabama this month, Senator Doug Jones today announced he will be hosting a listening session in Birmingham next Monday focused on what’s at risk for patients if protections for pre-existing conditions are repealed. The event takes place at United Abilities.
Jones will share updates about what Congress is doing to help protect Americans with pre-existing conditions from losing their coverage and he will have a discussion with invited representatives from the community, including advocates and medical professionals as well as individuals who are living with different pre-existing conditions.

According to the Kaiser Family Foundation, 33-percent of Alabamians under the age of 65 have a pre-existing condition that could have left them with no coverage or higher-cost coverage before the ACA was enacted. That ranks among the highest rates in the nation and makes Alabama one of the states hurt most if these protections were terminated.
