Downtown Bar Reopens After Re-branding

The bar formerly known as the Tavern on 1st has reopened with a new name and a new atmosphere.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - A downtown Birmingham bar is reopening with a new name and new brand. What was previously the Tavern on 1st, located in Birmingham's Loft District, will be known as Paper Doll when it opens on Dec. 14 .

A report by the Birmingham Business Journal said the bar was first opened in 2015 by Matt Campbell and his wife. Jasper-native Joel Cheatwood, who has lived in Birmingham since 2003, bought the bar from Campbell in 2017.

Paper Doll caters to people living and working downtown who may be looking for a space to host clients or hold business meetings.
