Off-Duty Officer Shot During Struggle At Birmingham Nightclub
An officer was shot in the foot during a struggle with an armed person inside a nightclub, Birmingham Police say.
BIRMINGHAM, AL — An off-duty officer was shot and a suspect was wounded at a Birmingham nightclub early Saturday, according to Birmingham Police.
The officer-involved shooting happened at the Quest nightclub in the 400 block of 24th Street South. According to police spokesperson Sgt. Rodarius Mauldin, the off-duty officer arrived at Quest Nightclub around 3 a.m. for work unrelated to his police department job and was notified by employees about person with a gun inside.
When the officer made contact with the suspect, a struggle ensued. Police claim the suspect shot the officer in the foot. The suspect was wounded in the lower body, but police initially do not believe the officer fired his weapon. The officer subdued the suspect before police backup arrived.

As reported by WVTM, the officer and suspect went to the hospital and have non-life-threatening injuries.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency will investigate the officer-involved shooting.
