Explosion At Midfield Business Injures Three People
Three victims were taken to an area hospital after an explosion at Birmingham Hot Metal Coatings in Midfield.
MIDFIELD, AL — An explosion Tuesday afternoon in Midfield blocked traffic and sent three people to the hospital. The incident occurred at Birmingham Hot Metal Coatings on Industrial Boulevard.
Three victims were transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to a WIAT report.
Birmingham fire officials say there is no threat to public, and no evacuation orders. They say 500,000 pounds of a pipe-making material called calcium silicon were in a building when there was an explosion and roof insulation caught fire.

According to Battalion Chief Sebastian Carrillo, Birmingham Fire and Rescue crews are helping Midfield FD with the fire at the business that resulted from the explosion.
