No Charges Sought In Social Media 'Threat' In Fairfield: Police

A perceived threat by an adult male toward faculty via social media placed Fairfield High School on high alert Tuesday morning.

FAIRFIELD, AL - A supposed social media threat aimed at a faculty member at Fairfield High School placed the school on soft lock down and high alert Tuesday morning. Fairfield police and the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office manned the enytrance to the school for most of the day.

A report by WVTM said the school went on high alert after superintendent Dr. Regina Thompson learned of the threat. Parents notified the school of the threatening social media post this morning, prompting some parents to remove their children from the school. However, the threat appears to have been a misunderstood post.

Fairfield Police Chief Nick Dyer told Alabama Media Group ghat no arrest warrant has been issued and there are no plans to do so. The man accused of making the threat actually posted this: "Please keep your kids away from Fairfield Tigers their head coach ain't right he willing to jeopardize your kids life with childish games in the streets share repost if you a mentor to kids read a book."

Initially, a Facebook post began circulating early Tuesday morning when someone by the name D Real Milk Man posted another man's photo with this caption: "This man said he was going up to the field where Fairfield Tigers and shoot the kids to get the coach. He said (expletive) the kids and the parents and it's all recorded."
