Fairfield Infant Brain Dead After Injury During Parents' Fight
An infant boy in Fairfield has been left brain dead after he was injured during an argument between his parents.
BIRMINGHAM, AL -A three month old boy has been declared brain dead after he sustained an injury during a fight between his parents Monday morning.
According to a report from Alabama Media Group, the injury - deemed as blunt force trauma - happened around 10 a.m. Monday at the family's home at the Mattie Gill Jackson Gardens public housing community. The infant has not officially been pronounced dead but officials close to the incident don't expect him to recover.
Fairfield police on Wednesday identified the mother as Ratunda Smith. She is charged with aggravated child abuse.
