JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL — Three men who have been pronounced dead in Jefferson County over the last week have not had any family members come forward to the Jefferson County Coroner's Office.

Family is being sought for James Michael Nibblett, 62, of Warrior; Oscar Jones, Jr., 70, of Birmingham; and Charles Evans Hunter, 64, of Tarrant.

Nibblett was found Dec. 8 inside his residence in the 600 block of Hilltop Avenue by Warrior Fire and Rescue. Authorities were summoned to the residence by the neighbors for a welfare check because the neighbors had not seen the decedent in a few days and were unable to get him to answer the door. At one point, he listed his address in the 2100 block of 10th Avenue South Birmingham.

Jones was found unresponsive underneath a bridge at 14th Street at 1st Avenue North on the afternoon of Dec. 5. Police say he is known to be homeless and is regularly seen in the area where he was found. The decedent’s friends have no knowledge of family and all efforts to locate family have failed. In both 2000 and 2005 he listed a home address in the 1900 block of 30th Avenue North Birmingham.

Hunter was found by a neighbor unresponsive sitting inside his pickup truck in his driveway in the 1200 block of Geneva Street in Tarrant. Neighbors told law enforcement that Hunter lives alone and has no known family. In 2018 he listed his residence in the 7800 block of 8th Avenue South Birmingham.
