Fatal Hit And Run On I-59 Under Investigation
Birmingham police are investigating a hit and run Oct. 6 on I-59 that resulted in a multi-vehicle crash and the death of one motorist.
BIRMINGHAM, AL — A multi-vehicle wreck on I-59 that caused one motorist's death is under investigation by the Birmingham Police Department. The incident occurred Oct. 6.
Sgt. Rod Mauldin of the Birmingham Police Department said the wreck was caused by a white vehicle that struck a small silver sedan.
The silver sedan was catapulted into an 18-wheeler causing the 18-wheeler to strike a black SUV, Mauldin said. The driver of the 18-wheeler was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the white vehicle left the scene of the wreck.

Mauldin said the department is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the white vehicle that left the scene.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Birmingham PD Hit and Run Investigators at 205-254-6555.
