Fatal Shooting In East Birmingham: Investigation Underway
A shooting Thursday afternoon on 1st Avenue North in east Birmingham resulted in one fatality.
BIRMINGHAM, AL — A shooting in east Birmingham Thursday afternoon resulted in one victim dying at a nearby hospital. The incident occurred just before 1:30 p.m. in the 7800 block of 1st Avenue North.
Sgt. Rod Mauldin of the Birmingham Police Department said Birmingham Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and transported the victim to UAB hospital with life threatening injuries. Detectives were later notified that the victim, identified as 33-year-old Kahlia Duquan Sturdivanof Birmingham, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by hospital staff.
Mauldin said detectives have not established a motive and no suspects are in custody. Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact the Birmingham Police Department Homicide Unit at 205-254-1764.
