Fiesta BHAM Hispanic Scholarship Applications Open
Alabama's largest Hispanic Festival is offering scholarships to deserving Hispanic students in the state.
BIRMINGHAM, AL — Fiesta BHAM, the largest Hispanic Festival in Alabama, begins its yearly Hispanic Heritage celebration by offering scholarships to deserving Hispanic students in the state. The Fiesta Scholarship application will be open Spet. 2-22 via their website.
"Part of Fiesta’s goal as a festival and as an organization has always been to provide Hispanic students with scholarships to help them further their education in Alabama," said Teresa Zuniga-Odom, President of Fiesta BHAM. "In the last 15 years, Fiesta has awarded more than $70,000 in scholarships to deserving Hispanic students."
Fiesta is a yearly non-profit festival that celebrates and educates the public on the diversity within the Latin American Countries represented in Alabama. Fiesta was also founded as a way to raise funds for deserving Latino students in Alabama and encourage them to succeed through higher education in the field of their choice. A portion of the proceeds from Fiesta’s yearly event goes toward funding the Fiesta Scholarship.

"It’s an honor for Fiesta to make the scholarship awards and play a small role in helping Hispanic/Latino students reach for their dreams," Zuniga-Odom said. "We love to hear their individual stories and learn how they are weaving themselves into the fabric of our communities through this higher education."
In lieu of its 18th Annual live event and due to the health and safety concerns presented by COVID-19, Fiesta BHAM will host the “30 Days of Fiesta.” The event will begin Sept. 15 and coincide with the kickoff to Hispanic Heritage month and run through October 15.
In addition to the online events, Fiesta has created a “Fiesta in a Box” celebration package which will provide a way for families to learn about Hispanic Heritage and have a “Fiesta at home experience” with their families, friends and coworkers.
All proceeds from sale of these packages will go directly to the Fiesta Scholarship Fund. Details regarding the “30 Days of Fiesta” and the “Fiesta in a Box” fundraising initiative will be rolled out within the coming weeks.
Details regarding the scholarship can be accessed through the Fiesta BHAM website.
