Fight Leads To Fatal Shooting In South Birmingham
One victim is dead and another injured after a physical altercation turned into gunfire in Birmingham Thursday night.
BIRMINGHAM, AL — One person is dead and another seriously injured after an altercation resulted in gunfire in south Birmingham early Friday morning. The fatal shooting occurred in the 900 block of 24th Street South just before 2 a.m.
Sgt. Rod Mauldin of the Birmingham Police Department said officers discovered a victim unresponsive suffering from a gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue reported to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.
Investigators learned that an additional person was transported from the scene to UAB Highlands by personal vehicle with life-threatening injuries. Officers received information that a physical altercation occurred prior to the shooting.
