Finalists Announced For Birmingham Fire Chief
The finalists for Birmingham fire chief include local applicants, and candidates from Atlanta and D.C.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - The next chief of the Birmingham Fire Department may be a local face, but there is a chance the new BFD leader could be a candidate from out of town. The finalists for the chief job were announced this week, and while two are local, there are also two from out of state.
Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin will interview the following four candidates for Birmingham fire chief:
- Brian Bonner: currently a firefighter and paramedic with the Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service.
- Brian Lee: currently the director of Health, Safety and Emergency Management at George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
- Wilmond Meadows: currently the community and government affairs manager for the State of Georgia for AMR EMS.
- Lori Stoney: currently battalion chief with the Homewood Fire and Rescue Service.
This week’s interview process is part of a national search that began with collecting applications from March 3, 2019 to April 5, 2019. There were 56 individuals – both locally and across the nation – who applied for the position.

An assessment center was created for participants to handle a series of realistic leadership situations. Once those candidates completed the assessment process, a detailed review of their performance was conducted.
